Giveaway!!!

Hiiii!

This November is my 3rd Blogiversary!

To commemorate the special occasion, I did a little Craft Room Cleaning Out. I gathered all of the supplies that have been hanging around in the stash for far too long (like 3 years) and I just haven't found the right project to use it up. I guess if I haven't found the right project in 3 years the likelihood of me finding it in the near future is not high, thus, its gotta go!

I've been gathering all of my extra supplies into a nice pile under my ironing board. The stack looks small from this point of view, but it is a lot of stuff, it must weigh 30 lbs!

(Outdoor upholstery fabric scraps from this project!)

(About 1/2 yard of each print from the Joel Dewberry Heirloom collection, from this project)

(Batting scraps, both warm and white and warm and natural)

 (Terrycloth, flannel, and Insulbright scraps)

(About 6 yards of a tone on tone white floral quilting cotton fabric)

(A few yards of this tapestry fabric)

(The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt and all of the templates cut and laminated)

(All of the pieces from this quilt that I never finished ...)

 (Some upholstery fabric scraps)

(Soul Blossoms scraps from this Bento Box Quilt)

(Lots of yardage from this Anna Maria Horner Garden Party print, maybe about 5 yards total)

(About 6 yards of this Ikea panel, they are very cute and would make a great motif quilt)

(Last but not least, a rainbow of fabrics from pinks to yellows to green, blue, and purple. These fabrics all came from my Aunt's stash and I am passing them along to someone who can use them up!)

DETAILS:
- The winner of the giveaway wins ALL of the items above!
- To enter the giveaway you can either become a follower, leave a comment on this post, or both for 2 entries to win.
- I will randomly choose the winner on Friday November 12th and I will e-mail you.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions about the giveaway items.

Craft Room Progress & Giveaway Winner

Welcome to my craft room (in progress).

I finally have everything unpacked and put away. Well, let's be honest, it's not really put away, it is more like ... put somewhere.

 (view from upstairs hallway)

 (my worktable)

Here is most of my fabric stash. The very top row is all of my fabric that is either reserved for another project or not quilting cotton. I have an old bridesmaids dress, some linens, home decor weight, and a pair of jeans. All of my quilting cotton is organized by color, obviously. I am clearly low on red, orange, and purple.

This section of bookcases has more sewing/quilting stuff on it. The top shelf is reserved Heather Ross Far Far Away II fabric that I am hoarding, followed by the fabric for the My Sweet Charli quilt that I have been working on. The second shelf from the top is my Anna Maria Horner shelf because I am her #1 Fan. The 3rd shelf there is my Famer's Wife Quilt-a-long shelf with all the fabrics that I have reserved for that there. The other shelves are miscellaneous quilting/sewing crap that is in desperate need of organization.

This set of bookcases houses my entire yarn stash and collection of knitting needs and crochet hooks. Oh, and the top shelf is apparently where I store the 16 birdcages that I bought at Michaels one day. Woops. Impulsive much?

Although this set of bookcases doesn't look particularly organized, I at least started. The top shelf is all of my scrapbooking goodies. Down from there is my jewelry shelf, embroidery, notebooks/cards (really? An entire shelf for notebooks and cards?), then a bookshelf, then a shelf for my gocco and its supplies, and lastly a totally miscellaneous shelf.

My window. Thank God I have a window in the room. I am pretty sure that I'd go nuts without one. Also, apparently that's my shelf for wrapping paper.

My blank wall with only the ironing board. Very exciting, I know.

Ooo and my closet. It isn't really a full closet because it has a staircase which leads to the attic, but it certainly has enough space for my extra crap.

Now that I've shown you my messy crafting room, I absolutely have to get it tidied up over the next year. I am getting a great feel for where I want things and stuff like that, so this will be fun!

Ok. Now to that GIVEAWAY WINNER! The winner is Kimberly who had like 11 entries into the contest because she linked my blog to her blog post. I would have been shocked if Random.org didn't select her. Wooo hoo! Hey Kim, check your e-mail!

Thanks for entering, everyone.

I made a pillowcase

Cutting up the 3.5 yards of solid fabric (Kona Snow) for the Apple Crate quilt I'm making for Charli seemed so daunting for some reason, so I decided to try and make one of the pillowcases to match the quilt set.

I've never attempted to make a pillowcase before. I followed this tutorial step by step. I found the process really easy and very quick, but this woman really made me mad because her verbal instructions were horrendous. I am still not sure if I used the correct seam allowance in a few places. Oh well.

These are the fabrics for one of the 2 standard pillowcases that I plan on making to match the quilt. All fabrics aside from the solid, come from Tula Pink's Parisville collection in the Pomegranate colorway. I bought them at Hawthorne Threads.

I did follow the youtube video exactly, so I won't give you measurements or anything like that here. Just some process pictures:

This part is actually really cool. It creates a hidden seam and is pretty awesome.

TA DA! I am actually pretty proud of myself. Don't you love the pillowcase? Part of me thinks that it is a little too big for the pillow, but I also hate big fluffy pillows.

One pillowcase down. One to go. One sham to make. Oh... and one quilt to cut, piece, quilt, and bind. Right...

My Sweet Little Goddaughter and her momma, (my best friend / shopping accomplice), left me for their home in Germany this past weekend. Given my now sad and lonely state of mind and the fact that my house looks like an A-bomb test site, I am having a giveaway to perk up my day, and hopefully yours.

Actually. This giveaway is really sparked by today being my 1 year Blogging Anniversary. Blogiversary?

To all of my readers out there, I present to you a few of my favorite things / new obsessions Guess what? I am giving away ALL of them!

AMH Mug Rugs finished & Giveawayyyyy!!

I have finally finished those mugs rugs that I actually started making about a month ago. Woops.

Binding pinning/misery:

(First step in machine stitching binding)

 (Pin much?)

(Close up)

Stack of finished mug rugs!:

Each rug, front and back:

(My absolute favorite from the group!)

Project Stats:
  • 12 mug rugs just finished
  • Used all scraps from previous projects using Anna Maria Horner's Good Folks projects
  • With the exception of the Pea Green solid used for 4 or 5 mug rugs
  • Each measure either 8x8 (for the double hourglass blocks) or 8x9 (rectangular blocks)
  • I am banking most of these mug rugs for future sales. Maybe when I get my Etsy site running or sell at a craft fair. We shall see what happens in 2011.
Project Likes:
  • Using up scraps. I feel especially bad because I am a terrible fabric cutter and always mess up and waste fabric, so I like using them up.
  • Double hourglass pattern. I really like it a lot.
  • Finishing 1 is super gratifying
Project Dislikes:
  • Using scraps. If you look at most of the mug rugs, there are lots of colors that don't necessarily match but coordinate instead. A lot of the triangles were scrapped from my last project, so it was a struggle lining up seams and getting things to work out.
  • Scrappy binding. I don't like that at all. It stunk. It made part of the binding way bulkier. Also, if you look at some of the backs, I couldn't get thread that matched up well with all binding fabrics.
  • All that pinning!! I feel like doing 1 big quilt has got to be easier than 12 mug rugs.

Now let's get to that giveaway! I want to thank all my readers for listening and commenting. Stay tuned to see what I come up with for 2011!

What: I am giving away your choice of one of the mug rugs pictured in this post (or I can randomly select one for you) to one lucky reader!

When: Ability to comment ends on Friday, January 21st @ 5:00 PM.
